Description:
The Selgaunt campaign opens in the divided city of Selgaunt, the trading center of Sembia and one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the Forgotten Realms. Selgaunt is located on Sembia's eastern coast, between the capital city of Ordulin and the fortified city of Saerloon, and is split by the River Arkhen (which flows from the Thunder Peaks into the Sea of Fallen Stars).

The player characters are all members of the Harpers, also known as Those Who Harp and (more often) "the meddlers of Faerûn." For all their dedication, the Harpers have never been welcome in Sembia -- and least of all in its major cities, where the Silver Ravens are at their strongest. Although in many ways a divided nation, Sembia is united in one particular: Sembia comes first. The idealism of the Harpers clashes with the unvarnished greed of Sembia's many merchant princes, and with the aims of many of its power groups.

Sembia has long been opposed to the Harpers, and agents who were discovered have been hounded across its borders, killed outright or simply made to disappear. Always stretched too thinly across too much territory, Those Who Harp opted years ago to pull out of Sembia almost entirely.

Recently, however, the Harpers began recruiting new members in unprecedented numbers, most often adventurers with great potential but little or no renown. This may hint at a deep division within the organization, as it runs completely counter to their past practices. Whatever the case may be, one thing is clear: the Harpers want to be back in Sembia, and back in force.

To this end, the player characters have all been dispatched to the city of Selgaunt -- to become the Harpers' eyes and ears in this most important city, and to pursue the Harper Code and cause. Because they are relatively unknown, they can infiltrate places that better-known Harpers have trouble gaining access to -- like Selgaunt...
