Description:

The Stargate is a round portal that can instantanously transport an object from one point in space to another by generating an artificial wormhole. A wormhole can be generated between any two Stargates when one Stargate dials the address of another Stargate. A Stargate uses six of thirty eight symbols, each representing a star constellation, to locate another Stargate and then uses a seventh symbol, unique to each Stargate, as a point of origin.
The gate has nine chevrons, seven of which are used to lock onto gate symbols and dial another Stargate. The Eighth chevron has been used to dial up a Stargate in the Home Galaxy of the Asgard. The function of the ninth Chevron is still unknown.
With the discovery of the Stargate and the potential it has offered Earth, the United States military has taken the opportunity to explore the universe. This exploration led to conflict and now the Earth is threatened by an ancient and mysterious race known as the Goa'uld. The Goa'uld are a hostile race bent on enslaving or destroying those that will not submit.
Earth has begun a desperate search to find allies and technology to defend this one planet against the Goa'uld menace. But is it too late?
