Description:
Wary Traveler,

Your journeys have taken you to but a small thread, woven into the elaborate tapestry of Europe. The tender, linen fiber is tucked into what is the western coast of the English Isle, where a large city grows upward and expands outward daily. It is a city shrouded in mysticism, waylaid by the ruthless, and controlled by the most wicked creatures of the night. It is a city where winter’s vicious bite infects those about with animosity, and summer’s heat breeds contempt.

By the twelve hundred sixty-first year of our Lord, we came to witness a great many achievements. The revered halls of the Cathedral of Notre Dame had been consecrated only months before, spreading good will and high hopes through Europe. The noble Crusaders had brought back spices and mathematical wealth from their travels, enriching the mainland, as well as the humble isle. Even Thomas Aquinas, the Angelic Doctor, had been named Chair of the University in Cologne. These were times of enlightenment, I thought.

Yet something was not sound with the accomplishments of man. Something disturbed me so. I left my court and journeyed to this city, this city nestled in the Barkshire Forests. I left my home in search of a purpose, in search of answers, only to find more questions laid before me. And it was in these burning times, these dark ages that I came to understand.

I came to understand that my life, my existence was meek and fleeting. I came to comprehend how little I actually did. It was in this pursuit that I learned of the masters of the night, of the moon-beasts, and of the warlocks mighty. It was in this journey that I learned: a single tale never ends, its legacy simply passes from one to the next.

By that prospect, I arrived in this city, this single thread in the mighty tapestry.

It was here, in December of 1247 I arrived as a scribe.
It was here, in January of 1261, I left as a sage.
This is where my part of the tale ends, and your part begins.
This is where the torch is passed on to the next.

This is where I welcome you, to Redthorne.

With humble intent,

Vito de Milan
