Description: | |
| Many centuries have past over the face of our earth. Each having their own spot in history, their own story, their own ending. Each tell of a hero and a villian, of triumphs and losses, of deaths and births. They tell the tales of life itself, teaching each generation afterwards what to do and what not to do. They provide a guide for the future and a rest for the past. However, our world is only too lucky to have such a past. There have been, and always will be places that are misguided from the beginning, leading them into a chaos so vile and wretched that it would take a miracle to break through. There are others that have their rulers kind and generous but overpowered too easily, taken apart piece by piece, shredded of life soul by soul and then struggling to regain the position that was truly theirs. This last is so with where you are now. The land of Midnihli. God and Goddess! Was it a spectacular place! It prospered! It was beautiful! It was the ultimate world! People everywhere were in love, were making families, expanding their lives, taking in new things, doing acts everyday that were so big we know them as miracles but they knew them as gifts. It was the place to be back then, the place of perfection. This world was protected by a group of magnificent people gifted with the strongest powers of magic ever seen. You see, for most people, one must be taught the ways of magic to use it but with these few chosen people, teachers were never needed. For these people, at age three they could flick their wrist and ignite a whole town into flames while others without the gift could flick their wrist and merely unsettle a speck of dirt on the ground. These magical people not only had a talent for their powers but also had a gift with certain creatures we would deem mythological while the people of Midnihli would pass them by in a market street and merely give a longing stare in their direction. These creatures were common and yet, rare. The only time someone in Midnihli would notice one is if a creature's chosen was nearby. Chosen you ask? As I have already said, the gifted people had a certain knack for handling powerful creatures meaning that they had a bond with one creature and one creature alone. The bonds were deep, inevitable ties from the creature to their chosen and back again. The two could share thoughts, and feelings, and emotions, and touches. It was such a great thing that it is impossible to describe. All one knew if they were chosen by a creature was that there was always someone there for them in the back of their minds, always a friend to reach out to for comfort and love and protection. It was a bond too deep for those unchosen to understand. The chosen were known as the Guardians. Guardians of Midnihli in better terms. They were the ultimate controllers of great magic and from the beginning of time they'd been fighting off all evil that threatened Midnihli. There was one such evil that would not give up. They persisted through the years, cutting down Guardians, destroying plots of the Midnihlian land, hacking apart the nobles and royalty. These destroyers were known by the name of Shadgins. For generations the two sides waged war, causing many casualties for both sides. As it would be, the Guardians managed to hold out every time and to protect the people of their world. They had a long streak of wins and a slate completely clean of losses. In between the times of war all the land prospered. It's too bad every good thing has to come to an end sometime... Near the end of yet another war the two forces came face to face. Magic to magic, leader to leader, army to army. Each were tired of this continuous fighting and were more than happy to make a pact with one another. The force that won this last battle would be free to do as they pleased with the world while the other force would be banished to the Pits, a subworld of death and sadness almost impossible to live in unless you had the right materials. They were to be banished for two thousand years. The armies clashed for hours on end. They we're equally matched until something so unexpected happened that no one on the side of the Guardians would have been able to counter it even if they were the strongest there. The Shadgins, though no one knows quite how, pulled a dirty trick that guaranteed them a victory and the Guardians hundreds of casualties and years of hell. The Guardians went angrily to their fate on the other side of the portal created for them. They were furious yes, but they wouldn't sink to the level of the Shadgins by going against their word. On the otherhand, the Shadgins reeked havic from the beginning. Noble families were slaughtered, families enslaved, land tarnished. Midnihli became just as disgusting and dangerous a place as the Pits. People have passed down the story throughout the two thousand years and many now believe it all to be a myth. They don't count on the Guardians coming back, they don't count on being saved from their hell, they don't count on anything but ruined lives. They're lost and in pain, believing they're far from help. Now two thousand years later, a portal has opened in one of the many deserts. The Guardians have emerged, seeking revenge with bloodlust in their eyes. They're still the same protective people from two thousand years ago but they've been hardened by their experiences and thirst for revenge. They're stronger than ever and won't allow anything to get in their way. You'd do well to keep out of their path or aid them in finding it. So who shall you be? A Guardian? A Shadgin? A civilian? A noble? Or... what... | |
